Baghdad Center

The Baghdad Center was opened in early 2004 after the fall of Saddam Hussein’s regime. The center works with individuals and organizations interested in building civil society and human rights activities.

The newly opened Baghdad center taps into KHRW’s Iraqi national and international team from years of experience working in the north to provide NGO capacity building training programs in key Iraqi communities. The training focuses on capacity building for local NGO centers to be established as well as for specialized NGOs such as those who serve Iraqi women. The program is in its beginning phase to develop programs that serve the community. It will address both NGO operations and special initiatives for women and overall human rights promotion. This NGO training will address specific barriers that are hindering development of multiethnic leadership and assist in developing quality programs for providing local social and development services.

The Baghdad center works directly with Iraqi Civil Society leaders and community builders to promote a free and democratic Iraq. The Baghdad Center will collaborate with different NGOs and groups to promote equal rights for women.
